Overview

This paper examines the intersection of knowledge problems and ethical challenges in stakeholder engagement. When organizations face genuine uncertainty about stakeholder needs, interests, and impacts, their ethical obligations become fundamentally complicated in ways that standard stakeholder theory does not address.

Contribution to the Research Program

This work extends the Knowledge Problems framework into business ethics, demonstrating the breadth of domains where Knightian uncertainty has practical consequences. It connects to the lab's interest in AI ethics through the question of how knowledge limitations constrain ethical reasoning.
